Love and Compassion

"In 'reality' love and compassion are central. There is no need to 'recognize specialness' in things. Such attempts are symptomatic of alienation. Only when alienated creatures drop the illusion of separation can they discover wholeness- a wholeness that they are!"     Peace, Matthew

Awareness

"The 'point' of life isn't to get something, or go 'someplace' (become better, etc.), but to fully experience what is. Often 'self-consciousness', which exists within the limited(ing) world of the conceptual, is tainted by the unending appearance of 'not good enough'. This is the origin of the Buddhist phrase, "Life is suffering". Love (unconditional) flourishes only when 'as it is' is accepted."      Peace, Matthew

The practice of religion

Religion directs people's attention away from self, towards selflessness, by way of practices that conflict with self-focus. "No-self" awareness (realization) is the end result of proper religious practice(s). This type of awareness is particularly difficult for self, which wants to support and enhancing itself through self-improvement. Ignorance plays an important role in the support of self, as self would rather create 'believable' stories (or perhaps more willfully desired, than believable), in order to keep self central and in control and powerful, thus making no-self seem impossible/implausible.
